The most popular street art in Malaysia state in the most beautiful island Penang. Street art is a visual art that create in public location, to show public and sometime to transfers message to public.
Blending all the historical facts of Penang, these wall paintings are to describe the worldwide of colloquial demeanor. The 1st street art in Penang is by Ernest Zacharevic, 2012. The Ah Quee Street, Georgetown are painted along this street. Ernest who had graduated at Middlesex University, London, he is an full-time artist and just want to visit penang. The series of wall paintings known as “Miror of George Town”, was commissioned by George Town Festival during 2012.
The wall painting are all painting on imperfect wall, but it is a reflection of Penang’s people living history. Follow the street of Ah Quee first you can see a little boy was restraining his pet that look like a dinosaur, and another teenager boys is on his motorbike. After that is Love Lane, Lebuh Muntri, Jalan Penang, and more. All the wall painting are going to tell story to public and get public attention on it.
Every single wall paint had their own meaning, some will be easily to get what does it mean but some are difficult to understand it. Artist choose the streets as their gallery that means the street really mean so much to the artist. Wall painting can be 3D and also 2D just depends on the artist. Street artist will paint out all the memory in his or her life into their painting, so it might be realistic and meaningful.
